Background
For each class I'm teaching you will find links on the left to the class syllabus and a calendar link. The classroom resources with procedures, lab safety, lab report format, news articles, etc are common to all classes.
Access
- I am generally on campus from 7:15AM until after 3:30PM.
- My room is in A-wing now. Visitors are required to check in with the main office.
- With the latest move I'm in a room with no phone. Please leave a message with the receptionist.
- For up-to-date student grades use your Family Access Link.
Usable Software
Many students use older computers that have difficulty running the latest resource hungry software. The high cost of commercial software is also an issue.
There are a number of high quality applications available that run well on older machines. Many of these applications are released under the GPL license which provides the software for free to users! I use such applications daily.
- AbiWord is a word processing program similar to Microsoft® Word. It is particularly friendly to older PCs.
- Open Office is a complete office package renowned for its ability to read and save Microsoft® format files.
- The Mozilla family of products offer a web browser and mail client.
- A very powerful math tool is GraphCalc.
- An often overlooked tool is a good text editor such as Notepad2.
- Anti-viral and anti-malware programs for the non-commercial, home user include GriSoft AVG, Ad-aware, and Spybot.
