Oak Harbor High School was established around 1903. This
original site is now part of the maintenance department for the school
district. The next building, constructed in 1934 has recently been renovated
and is part of Oak Harbor Elementary.In the 1950's, OHHS moved to
NE 4th Avenue. In the 1970's, the school moved to its current site on
OHHS is a four year 4A high school with approximately 1800 students, despite
a smaller hometown. The campus is separated into five buildings classified in
lettered wings (i.e. A-wing, B-wing) and the Gym/Fieldhouse.
The school sits on 47 acres and includes six tennis courts,
a black-surface track, four multi-purpose fields, and a baseball
diamond. There are 77 classrooms throughout the school. Inside A-wing
are the Administrative Offices, counseling center, the
Library (includes computer lab with internet access), A-wing computer
lab, Parker Hall (cafeteria and auditorium), the English, Social Studies, and
Foreign Language departments,
and the performing arts classes.
There are two locker bays adjacent to A-wing. B-wing houses the Science and
Math departments. C-wing is home to Business and Art.
In D-wing, one finds Industrial Technology and Family and Consumer Sciences.
