1. Individual work. You will work on problems by yourself, without help from your table partner. This way of learning is critical for a subject like mathematics.
2. Small group work. Here you can work with a table partner in a collaborative fashion to work through material. It is important that both of you are learning how to do the math, rather than letting one person do all the work. Come test or quiz time, you will be on your own.
3. Whole group instruction. This is where your teacher (me) will be explaining ideas to the whole class. Be attentive and not being afraid to ask questions is the key here.

*** Notebooks will be graded semester 2
All written work must be headed in the upper right hand corner of the page and include the name, date, and period. Assignments must be neat and legible. Answers only are not acceptab *All “equation solving problems” MUST be done to get credit.
Keep up with assigned work. It doesn’t take long to fall behind if your daily work is incomplete or missing entirely. Full credit will only be given for work that is completed by the due date. If it is late even by one day you may receive half credit until the end of the unit. If you are absent for a legitimate reason (excused) you are allowed to turn in work one day later for each day absent.
Tests
A one day absence the day before a test does not necessarily constitute a reason to delay taking the test. Students absent the day of the test should plan to take the test the very next day. Test retakes need to be taken within with in the quarter they were taken. A student may retake any test and increase their score up to 80%. Retakes need to be taken within the quarter they are given. There are no retakes on semester finals. Before retaking a test, the student must have all assignments from that unit complete and turned in, including the test review assignment.
Re-Do Policy
If a student receives an R on a daily assignment or a homework assignment, they have the opportunity to redo that work for 100%. They must attend after school tutoring with Mrs. Hansen in Room 12-A and complete the below-standard assignment in her classroom to bring the assignment up to 100%.
Extra Help
Extra help is available in Room 12-A from Mrs. Hansen Tuesdays through Fridays from 2:20 until 3:20. in Room 12-A There is an activity bus leaving the high school at about 3:20 each day. Students need to get a bus pass signed by the teacher to get on the bus.
Extra help can be voluntary, but may be assigned by the teacher if a student’s grade falls below a C- or if more than two assignments are missing. If a student has been assigned tutoring and fails to attend, the teacher will call home and reassign tutoring. If the student still fails to attend tutoring, a phone call home will be made and a discipline referral will be written for “Failure to Comply” (see pg 13 of Student Handbook). At this point the deans will assign Saturday School. Failure to attend Saturday School will result in Attendance Truancy, a Staffing, and removal from all extracurricular activities.
Attendance
Students are marked tardy if they arrive up to five minutes after the tardy bell. For the next 10-15 minutes they will be marked B. After that they will be marked absent. Students who come to class without a pink pass from the office will need to make sure that they get their parent note, pass from other teachers or the counseling office to the attendance office so Mrs. Hobert can make sure attendance records get straightened out. See the school Tardy policy in Student Handbook. Excessive tardiness will result in after school detention.
