Meet the Teacher

Mrs. Hansen teaches two classes of Geometry outside of her Hope Island ninth-grade transition block. Within Hope Island, she teaches two classes of Algebra 1 and one class of Math Matters. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Education with endorsements in Mathematics and Chemistry. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Education Degree with an emphasis on Curriculum and Technology.

She has been married since 1975 and a resident of Oak Harbor since 1979. She grew up in Haddonfield, N. J. where her parents still reside. Her husband has been retired from the Navy since 1989 and has worked as a pharmacy technician, a police dispatcher, and helping veterans receive the benefits to which they are entitled. Her daughter who graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1997 has recently graduated from the Medical Assistant Program at Skagit Valley College in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Hansen is voracious reader. While she likes to read just about anything, she currently prefers to read mysteries, science fiction, history, and science related books and magazines. She tries to keep up with current events by reading a weekly news magazine.

Mrs. Hansen loves to travel and to learn about the geology of the regions she visits. During her last family vacation, she went to Central Oregon to visit Crater Lake, Lava Lands National Monument, and Newberry Caldera. On another trip she had the opportunity to visit the Gettysburg battlefield with her mother and nephew.
