As the district works to progress toward the goals set forth in our Strategic Plan, the OHHS English Department is prioritizing aligning their work with one another, as well as with the district at-large. In order to meet the needs of our diverse student population and keep our curriculum pertinent in a time of rapidly evolving methods of accessing and processing information, we are excited to begin the Curriculum Pilot and Adoption process outlined in Board Policy and Procedure 2020. Selected teachers in our English Department will pilot new core instructional materials with students in grades 9-11 during the 2024-25 school year for possible adoption beginning in the 2025-2026 school year.
This is a public, transparent process and there are multiple ways to get involved. As a starting point, we are seeking interested parents, guardians, and community members to participate as a member of our Curriculum Review Team. Typically, this team meets 1-2 times per month to preview curriculum materials, look at student data and feedback, and determine ways to authentically involve families in the curriculum review process. Ultimately, in alignment with Board Procedure 2020, the Curriculum Review Team will make a recommendation for the potential adoption of a new curriculum. The team will be composed of educators, administrators, parents, community members, and student liaisons. Our first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 13, from 3:00 - 5:00 pm. If you are interested in participating on this team, please click here by Friday, October 18.
