Reflecting on this School Year & Looking to the Future

Posted Date: 6/18/24 (5:15 PM)

Dear OHPS Community,

We’ve made it to the end of the school year! This past weekend we watched as our graduates walked across the stage to accept their diploma and embark on the next phase of their lives. It is always inspiring to see our graduates celebrate years of growth, perseverance and hard work. We are so proud of our Class of 2024 and look forward to seeing what they accomplish next!

As we wrap up the school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on this past year and turn our sights to the future of Oak Harbor Public Schools. While we faced difficult decisions and adapted to new circumstances this school year, we’ve also come together as #OneOakHarbor to pave a brighter future for the students of Oak Harbor Public Schools.

During this school year, we launched a community-wide initiative to build a vision as #OneOakHarbor on behalf of our students. The newly adopted Strategic Plan drives our district’s vision, goals, initiatives and strategies for the next five years. Through the collaborative work of students, families, and staff, this process centered on student voice and the collective vision of our school community. I want to take this opportunity to thank the thousands of members of our community who provided their perspectives and input through surveys, listening and learning sessions or committee work to ensure our Strategic Plan is grounded in community priorities, research-based best practices and expertise of our educators and administrators.

We will be officially launching our new strategic plan in the fall and will be providing more information about what it means for our work moving forward on our website, social media and communications.

I hope you and your family have a restful and joyful summer break and I look forward to meeting or working with you in the new school year!

With gratitude,

Michelle Kuss-Cybula, Ed.D.
